Registered Nurse Consultant

Cape Fear Long Term Care Pharmacy is an independent, closed-door pharmacy specializing in the health and medication needs of residents in long-term care communities. We are seeking a motivated nurse with a love for geriatrics to provide services for our residents and facilities. We are committed to the success of our facilities, and we provide numerous services to ensure compliance to lawful regulations.

Job Description

• Position type - Part Time - 16-24 hours/week
• Travel to and from facilities - Mileage Reimbursement
• Validate Licensed Health Professional Support (LHPS) skills for PCAs and CNAs, according to state requirements for facility compliance (10A NCAC 13 F/G)
• Perform LHPS assessment of residents as required by the state per 10A NCAC 13F .0502 to include: * performing a physical assessment of the resident as related to the resident’s diagnosis or current condition
• Evaluating the resident’s progress to care being provided;
• Recommending changes in the care of the resident as needed based on the physical assessment and evaluation of the progress of the resident; and
• Documentation of the above
• Administer Tb tests, read results, and provide documentation for residents and facility staff
• Develop and teach training programs for facility employees (Medication Aide, Personal Care Aide, CPR, Infection Control, etc.)
• Validate medication aides using the NC Clinical Skills Checklist
• Consult on other projects, services, classes, etc. as requested

Competencies/Characteristics

• Working knowledge of Rules 10A NCAC 13F/G for Adult Care Homes relevant to LHPS nurse duties
• Knowledge of NC Assisted Living rules and regulations
• Efficient computer skills - CareSuite, other eMARs, Excel
• Love of geriatrics
• Excellent customer service - friendly & accessible
• Organization skills
• Ability to manage time well
• Attention to detail
• Adaptability of teaching to potential low health literacy

Education & Experience

• Registered nurse (RN) - Licensed in the state of North Carolina and in good standing with the NC Board of Nursing.
• Certified CPR Instructor a plus (Opportunity to receive certification may be provided after hire)
• NC Continuing Education Instructor preferred (10A NCAC 13G .0502 Adult Care Licensure Section for Family Care Homes and Adult Care Homes)
