Position: Regional Director of Burke Co YMCA Childcare

Reports To: Senior Program Director of Childcare
Classification: FT Exempt
General Function: Under the direction of the Senior Program Director of Childcare, the Regional Director is responsible for multi-site management of the YMCA’s childcare programs. The Regional Director will relate directly to staff, parents, students, community partners, and all site personnel. This person will work under the direction of the Senior Program Director to promote, oversee, and maintain quality of programming, staff and program evaluations and assessments, and support logistics of programs within their respective region. The Regional Director will directly influence the growth and development of YMCA childcare programs through their leadership and supervision and is expected to promote team building within each site, as well as across all sites within their region. This person is expected to cultivate an environment of collaboration and community and to motivate and encourage all YMCA personnel.
Know How:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a licensed child care supervisory role
- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited institution in Child Development, Birth-Kindergarten, or Early Childhood Education required
- NC Administrative Credentials: Level III preferred, minimum of level II required. (Must be able to acquire administrator credentials within 6 months of hire)
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills
- Strong conflict resolution skills and ability to resolve conflicts in a positive way
- Demonstrated expertise in management and supervision of staff and volunteers
- Demonstrated experience in program planning to achieve goals and outcomes
- Reliable transportation and the ability to provide necessary oversight to multiple locations
- Ability to maintain flexible working hours
- Must be a team builder, highly organized, and possess excellent customer service/communication skills
- Knowledge of NC DCDEE Child Care Rules, Star Rated Licensing Requirements, and NC Child Care Sanitation requirements and ability to maintain site compliance
- Detail oriented with ability to meet deadlines
- Uses growth mindset to train, coach, and develop staff
- Current certifications in CPR and First Aid or ability to obtain certification within the first 60 days of employment.
- Ability to provide positive and motivational leadership in accordance with the YMCA mission to other YMCA site staff.

Principal Activities:
The Regional Director must have competencies, skills and proven leadership abilities to successfully carry out the YMCA mission, goals and vision for serving the community. Other important responsibilities include the following:
- Administer the day-to-day operation of school-age childcare programs when any Program Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator, or Group Leader is not available, ensuring that all programs remain in compliance; ability to understand individual site ratios and move site staff as necessary to maintain compliance
- Responsible for oversight of efficient staff scheduling; responsible for management and oversight of staff schedules and distribution
- Assist Program Coordinators with the hiring process
- Ability to lead, train, and guide multiple staff levels
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with school and community stakeholders to communicate the goals of the YMCA program initiatives
- Be a positive spokesperson, advocate, supporter, and promoter of all YMCA programs at all times
- Provide leadership and support to the Program Coordinator and site personnel in regards to the annual fundraising campaign; responsible for achieving annual fundraising goals
- Perform high-quality work within given deadlines and expectations with or without direct supervision
- Interact professionally and positively at all times with other employees, members, program participants, volunteers and other individuals within the community.
- Ensure proper implementation of SEL curriculum/framework at each site
- Provide leadership with lesson planning activities and ensure implementation of daily lesson plans
- Provide daily site leadership, both while children are in attendance and during office hours, to ensure that all programs offer high-quality care and programming, remain in compliance with all regulations and rules, have proper ratios and staffing, and serve as direct contact and support for all site staff at all times
- Assist Childcare Administrative Assistant with payroll, receivables, and other administrative functions
- Ability to maintain oversight of program budgets within respective region
- Maintain ongoing communication with leadership to ensure achievement of goals and outcomes
- All other duties assigned by supervisor
Physical Requirements:
The Regional Director must represent the YMCA in a professional image. He/she must be able to maneuver the grounds and facilities freely and be capable of speaking clearly, including, but not limited to: walking, stooping, carrying minimum of 50 lbs., sitting, standing, pushing, climbing, kneeling, lifting minimum of 50 lbs., and crouching.

- Report all job accidents the same day the accident happens.
- Obtain authorization from your supervisor for all non-emergency treatments for accidents.
- Wear seat belts at all times in company vehicles.
- Keep the area where you work clean and neat at all times.
- Do not remove or bypass any guards on any machinery at any time.
- Ask you supervisor when you need additional equipment or instructions to get the job done safely.
- Lift with your legs, not your back, and get assistance with loads over 50 pounds.
- Advise your supervisor of any hazardous conditions.
- Follow all other written and spoken safety rules.
Effect on End Result:
The Regional Director represents the YMCA in a professional, courteous, friendly, and helpful manner to members and prospective members. The Regional Director will have a direct effect on the end result and delivery of childcare operations by ensuring high-quality programs are being offered to families of assigned schools.
Introductory Period:
A 90-day review will be conducted after the employee start date. The purpose of such an initial introductory period is to provide an opportunity for both the YMCA of Catawba Valley and the new employee to assess their respective satisfaction and suitability to the job.

Pay: $37,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
