Tescor is looking for someone to join our Refrigeration team who either has a refrigeration background or is a skilled pipe fitter or plumber. The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for using schematics to lay out and install refrigeration components, braze and solder piping, perform leak and vacuum testing, and charge systems with refrigerant. Additional work will be done on refrigeration systems and other process fluid loops for walk-in freezers, environmental rooms, automotive test benches, calorimeters, and other custom equipment.
This person will be skilled in refrigeration, pipe fitting or plumbing work. A plus if you have some experience with the following: steam systems, black iron, stainless, brass, and PVC piping, pipe fitting, soft and silver soldering, and brazing. EPA certification is a plus.
Main Responsibilities:
- Works with production and engineering teams to ensure system specifications are met
- Reads and comprehends process flow and engineering schematics
- Layouts, cuts, mounts, and connects process piping using solder, brazing and other methods
- Fills process loops with specified gases or fluids
- Cuts, threads, and connects pipe to functional components and water or power system on premises
- Insulates piping, heaters, and various other system components
Qualifications:
- EPA Universal Certification
- HVAC Certification
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an HVAC Technician
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Able to read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to run copper piping and PVC
- Ability to organize work and meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Understands and has mastered the refrigeration cycles to include; identifying components in advanced refrigeration circuits, understanding how each component works, diagnosing and correcting problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot
- Understands refrigeration recovery, evacuation, and charging, understands the installation and sizing of refrigerant piping
Other:
- This position is in a manufacturing environment and will involve hands-on work with tools and testing equipment. Physical activity will include lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
- Occasional overtime required
- Involves occasional travel up to 15%
