• Installs and maintains process pipe and piping systems within the refinery.
• Selects, installs, and removes various pipe, and piping systems, fittings, gaskets, tubing, and valves.
• Uses hand and power tools to complete assigned work tasks. Uses precision measuring and alignment tools to ensure proper alignment.
• Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret basic schematics, blueprints, and drawings.
• Follows guidelines and procedures to ensure that equipment is working in a safe and reliable manner.
• Make boiler making repairs according to Valero’s engineering spec’s on piping, valves, towers, tanks, exchangers, fin fans, furnaces, etc.
• Assist with scaffolding inspections according to OSHA standard 1026.451 so maintenance personnel can access piping and equipment to make repairs.
• Rig piping, machinery, and equipment according to OSHA standards.
• Fight incipient level fires using dry chemical fire extinguishers, steam hoses, fire hydrants / foam stations.
• Required to work 8 hour shift. Must be on call as needed. May be required to work 12 hour rotating shift work, (days & nights) including weekends and holidays during turnaround work. Refinery operations run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
• Perform other duties as assigned

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• A minimum of 2 years pipefitter experience or a degree in a pipefitter field required.
• Required to reside within 50 miles of the refinery.
• NCCER Industrial Pipefitter Certification preferred.
