Recreation Activities Specialist - Fitness Job at Town of Garner
The Town of Garner's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is seeking a group fitness instructor/personal trainer to lead group fitness classes for adults and youth. This position is also responsible for organizing age-appropriate fitness activities for pre-school participants while their parents attend a group fitness class at the Garner Recreation Center.
Schedule, prepare, and implement group fitness classes for youth and adults. This could include teaching group fitness classes, substituting for other instructors, and coordinating childcare for fitness programs.
Multi-task and re-prioritize frequently.
Monitor supplies and the facility for safety and comfort of participants.
Applicants must be able to lead a safe and effective group fitness class for adults and youth participants. Applicants must be able to modify exercises and routines to suit many different skill and fitness levels.
Applicants must have knowledge of safe and effective methods of strength training, cardio, balance, and stretching through a formal college degree program, athletic coaching/conditioning experience, personal training experience, fitness instructor experience, etc.
Applicants must be comfortable leading pre-school fitness activities.
Availability to work a flexible schedule which could include weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification with 6 months of hire is required.
This position will be scheduled for an average of 15 hours per week.
