Railcar Assembler 2nd Shift Job at Economy Coating Systems
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking 2nd Shift Railcar Assemblers to join our team! The ideal candidate would remove components such as hatch covers, outlet gates, and unloading system components including piping, valves, and aerator assemblies from railcars. Candidate must be able to clean, inspect, replace components and complete a function test on railcars to ensure the unloading components work properly. Candidate must be able to perform coating inspections and repair/touch up using paint brushes and rollers.
Qualifications:
A Railcar Assembler/Cleaner's duties require physical stamina and attention to detail. Other essential skills include:
- Mechanical aptitude – Ability to comply with instructions in written, oral, and schedule form is essential. Ability to disassemble railcar components. Ability to inspect equipment for damaged or worn components and cleanliness. Ability repair and reassemble railcar components. Ability to use hand tools including pneumatic and electric tools such as impacts wrenches, sanders, drills, and grinders.
- Physical fitness – Able to work on, under, and inside of railcars. Able to lift weights up to 50lbs alone and up to 100lbs as a team lift. Able to perform work off of ladders. Able to operate pressure washers up to 5000psi. This position may be required to bend and or stoop, work in positions on your knees, stand or walk on uneven ground and ascend and descend rail cars or ladders, all of which requires stamina and endurance. Able to work in confined spaces and at heights up to 16ft.
- Compliance with safety procures – as part of an organization’s safety program, assembler/cleaners are expected to complete the required training program and pass safety examinations and all required qualification and certification assessments.
- Interpersonal skills – the ability to clearly, professionally, and effectively communicate with their supervisor and coworkers. The ability to work as a team is necessary for success.
- Flexibility – assemblers/cleaners may be required to work overtime to meet production needs of our customers. At times, they may be asked to cross-train, work in other areas, or train new employees.
