POSITION SUMMARY
The Radiology Clerk performs general clerical, receptionist, and patient related duties in the Radiology department.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Checks Diagnostic Appointment Report (DAR) in the Epic system and makes sure to note what exams need completed prior to leaving the department. Radiology Clerk to write the correct order and times on the patients slip of paper.
- Prints stickers for patients having special procedures done.
- Ensures that patients complete necessary questionaires prior to the exam.
- Assists the techs with burning CDs, importing outside CDs. Faxes reports to physicians when requested.
- Answers the phone and if necessary, takes messages. Uses proper phone etiquette. Speaks quietly and professionally.
- Ensures that all scheduled exams for the current and next day have orders attached. If not, call physicians office and have the order placed in Epic or faxed. Assists the techs with transcribing faxed orders or orders brought in by the patient into Epic.
- Makes a list of the next day’s patients that will require lab work prior to exam. Takes this list to registration area and lab. May assist with calling patients for specific next day instructions.
- Cleans equipment and disinfects as needed. Performs variety of clerical duties accurately, legibly, and in a timely fashion. Initiaties and compiles routine reports and distributes as requested.
- Assists the techs with transporting patients if needed.
- Safeguards hospital supplies, property, and equipment from damage, misuse, or loss. Efficiently uses supplies and inventory. Orders supplies and maintains par levels as requested. Restocks supply areas as needed.
- Collaborates with all members of the health care team and physician offices to promote a seamless patient care continuum. Follows proper chain of command when issues/problems arise and demonstrates appropriate follow-through.
- Able to work independently and performs work with appropriate supervision. Has service oriented attitude towards patients, physicians, families, and coworkers.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: High school graduate or GED
- Skills: Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language. Ability to deal effectively with a changing environment and be open to new ideas. Ability to operate phone system. Demonstrates ability to use office equipment and computer. Pleasant, outgoing personality to handle frequent contact with a variety of individuals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: College coursework in a healthcare related field
- Skills: Radiology exam workflow experience / knowledge.
- Years of Experience: Experience with PACS/Epic
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Personal Protective Equipment: Mask and non-sterile medical gloves
- Physical Demands: Must be able to read and speak the English language. Must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently, or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Able to lift up to 25% of the ideal body weight. Significant sitting and standing to type or operate copier. Rebularly exposed to infection/contagious disease. Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens from blood and/or bodily fluids.
