R&D Engineer I - Ceramics Job at Prismatik

Essential Functions:

  • Applies engineering knowledge to the design and development of current products, with an emphasis on implementing product solutions that are consistent with the optimization of manufacturing quality and product features
  • Utilizes testing tools and equipment such as particle size analyzer, surface area analyzer, TGA/DTA, Tensile Tester, SEM, etc., as well as troubleshoots and maintains equipment
  • Solves technical/scientific problems using sound engineering principles, creativity, and product design verification techniques.
  • Prepares and tests samples, standards, and batches.
  • Analyzes raw materials using various testing methods.
  • Evaluates and implements new raw materials in existing products to lower cost or provide additional benefits.
  • Determines equipment qualification and method crossover.
  • Analyzes data for acceptable criteria against specification ranges and report results to laboratory management.
  • Conducts laboratory investigations and recommends improvements.
  • Supports team members in investigation and creation of new products.
  • Conducts analysis for existing formulations against new test criteria and project objectives.
  • Documents findings and accurately reports project progress.
  • Recommends and presents new ideas and possible improvements on existing projects and products to management.
  • Works effectively in a matrix organization; meets demands from multiple internal customers.
  • Negotiates requirements in a matrix organization and helps others meet goals.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require at the direction of management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science or other related Science or Engineering degree.
  • Must have previous experience working with alumina, zirconia, and ceramic oxides.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with ceramic materials processing (aspects of ceramic powder processing), materials testing and characterization.
  • Previous experience in an R&D environment preferred.
Pay Range: 65,000-85,000k/yr
