JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Engineer is a critical team member responsible for driving quality improvements throughout the facility. This individual will work closely with our value streams and other stakeholders to reduce the rates of both internal and external non-conforming material as well as improving our quality management system. In addition, this position will help us achieve our vision of delivering an exceptional customer experience by exceeding customer product and service expectations.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Actively engage managers, supervisors, and operators to drive quality at the source.
  • Design, implement, and maintain quality processes, control plans, and procedures to ensure product meets customer specifications.
  • Develop and improve control plans and failure mode and effects analyses (FMEAs) to proactively prevent quality issues from reaching the customer.
  • Lead internal audits to the ISO 9001 standard to ensure effectiveness of QMS.
  • Communicate directly with customers to investigate and resolve quality issues including development and communication of corrective actions as well as PPAPs and FAIRs.
  • Participate in and lead Lean activities including root cause analysis, Kaizen events, 5S, 8D, preventative maintenance programs, and other Lean tools to enhance quality.
  • Identify, implement, and analyze statistical process controls throughout production.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities in support of customer corrective actions, internal corrective/preventive actions, error-proofing, and general process improvement.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for all projects assigned.
  • Data collection and analysis of quality metrics
  • Document control
  • Perform Gauge R&R studies.
  • Training of personnel on quality standards and gauge usage.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Communication skills - above average written and verbal communication skills are required as the Quality Engineer will regularly interface with shop floor personnel, technical peers, management, and senior leadership.
  • Influence & Teamwork - must be a strong individual contributor but be able to aid others as needed. Understands the impact of their words and behavior on others and is able to influence without authority.
  • Strong technical & troubleshooting abilities in a variety of manufacturing disciplines including demonstrated expertise in a production environment.
  • High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
  • Able to define issues, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree. (Engineering preferred)
  • 4 - 10 years of practical, hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Previous experience as a Quality Engineer preferred.
