TITLE: QUALITY SYSTEMS MANAGER

STATUS: SALARIED EXEMPT

REPORTS TO: PRESIDENT OF MANUFACTURING

LOCATION: ELGIN – In Person

POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for managing the plant Quality Systems, Food defense and regulatory compliance. Quality System Manager is one of the SQF practitioners and person in charge to ensure the safety of all food products produced. These responsibilities include validation of Food Safety and Quality programs and assisting in the maintenance of plant quality systems and food safety programs in a multi-customer environment. This position is the most senior quality person and has 3 direct reports with 15 in the department.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of five years experience in managing food industry quality systems, preferably with major food Company.
  • B.A. or B.S. degree, preferably in a technical field.
  • The following certifications and/or relevant experience are required:
  • HACCP
  • PCQI
  • GFSI
  • Ability to support internal and external customers by responding to their needs with the appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Experience with FDA regulations, requirements and expectations.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and expectations and integrate them into PPG processes.
  • Strong analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Experience in plant and laboratory safety programs.
  • Experience in plant continuous improvement programs.
  • Experience in food plant sanitation programs.
  • Thorough understanding of food plant GMP’s.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of measurement and the statistical techniques used in problem solving, capability assessment and reliability. Proficient in Statistical Process Control and statistical techniques and presentation methods relative to quality principles.
  • Proficient in writing and executing plant quality programs such as HACCP, GMP’s, SPC, allergen control and SSOP’s, Corrective Action, Product Recall and Traceability, and Hold and Release.
  • Ability to plan and organize the work of a staff.

RESPONISIBILITIES.

  • Auditor of plant quality systems, including: plant quality system versus customer requirements, sanitation practices, HACCP plan, calibration schedules and results, test methods, batch formulas versus official formulas, allergen control procedures, traceability program and others as required by the customer or PPM.
  • Work with all internal departments to confirm the necessary resources and support are present for the operation to meet facility objectives and maintain outstanding customer relations.
  • Develop and maintain open and honest lines of communication with peers, employees, management, and our customer.
  • Primary plant liaison with customer on quality issues.
  • Develop Proven Partners Manufacturing Culture – lead, train, coach, evaluate, and motivate employees and responsible supervisory staff while treating every individual with respect.
  • Goals – lead team efforts in achievement of common goals intended to improve performance in productivity, safety, quality, and service.
  • Exhibit a positive, can-do attitude that fosters a productive working environment striving for continuous improvement.
  • Observe and actively promote all facility safety and sanitation policies and procedures designed to protect the health and safety of our employees.
  • Professionally develop the quality management group to maintain strength and depth throughout the organization. Conduct yearly performance reviews and schedule informal feedback sessions as appropriate with all personnel to identify training needs and establish short/long-term goals & objectives.
  • Keep plant management updated with current formula and processing information.
  • Complete in-plant management quality status summaries and activity reports for plant and corporate distribution.
  • Assist Plant Management during execution of special projects as required.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

1. Spends 25% of the shift standing, walking, stooping, bending, or lifting.

2. Must enforce all safety procedures and GMP’s.

3. Works shift and must be willing to work overtime, alternated shifts, weekends, handle training schedules to accommodate other employees and order requirements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
