Position Title: Quality Assurance Specialist

Reports To: Director of Compliance and Quality Assurance

Pay Range: Starting at $21.15per hour, DOE

Objective

This position applies broad compliance and quality assurance knowledge and judgment in adhering to standards and regulations outlined by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Services (CARF), as well as federal and state agencies. The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for small and large projects, coordinating across departments and management levels to ensure ongoing monitoring or completion. The Quality Assurance Specialist is also an active member of Quality Excellence and Compliance Committees.


Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains up-to-date understandings of CARF accreditation standards, Residential Child Care licensing regulations, and State of Alaska Division of Behavioral Health requirements.
  • Completes regularly scheduled audits, including chart reviews, timeliness of documentation, and annual audits required from licensing and accrediting bodies.
  • Monitors regulatory changes and communicates information to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Assists in the development of project proposals, recommendations, implementation plans, communication packages, performance measurement tools, and training materials related to assigned projects (such as the Risk Management Plan and Policy Review).
  • Creates and presents data to groups and leadership for informational purposes or action related needs.
  • Assists with maintaining current accreditation standards and preparing for reaccreditation
  • Works collaboratively with managers and departments throughout VOA to collect and verify accuracy of data, effectiveness of processes, and to ensure full compliance on related issues.
  • Develops effective reporting tools and generates production and Ad Hoc reports as needed in response to internal and external audits, surveys, and leadership requests.
  • Leads Risk Management work group, facilitates changes to agency Risk Management plan, and monitors ongoing risk management activity.
  • Oversees Policy and Procedure review process, collaborating with department directors, completing changes, and ensuring the most updated policies & procedures are available.
  • Responsible for Individual Service Agreements (ISA), including, annual staff training, reviewing submissions, communicating with State of Alaska partners, and monitoring departmental ISA budgets.
  • Assists with maintaining and reporting data to state agencies


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High School Diploma/ G.E.D
  • Minimum of two years’ experience with Medicaid regulations, billing, and/or quality assurance
  • Attention to detail and ability to make sound decisions based on information available.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Education in business or health care administration preferred.
