QA Lab Technician - mid shift Job at Daubert Chemical Co. Inc.
In business since 1935, Daubert Chemical Company is a profitable, family-owned specialty chemical manufacturer located near Midway airport and a market leader in the products we sell to our end users and distributors. We are seeking a* QA Lab Technician* position in the Quality Assurance (QA) Department. This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager in the QA Lab. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hours will be 7am-3:30pm while in training; this is a midday shift position where hours are 9am-5:30pm. This position will require flexibility as needed as it backs up early first and 2nd shift as swing shift coverage when team members are out of office. Occasional overtime and weekend hours may be scheduled according to business needs.
SUMMARY:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician works independently and coordinates essential Quality Assurance functions from raw materials through finished product release (includes quality control). Communication with manufacturing, R&D laboratory, Shipping and Sales is essential. Perform tests and inspections in an efficient and accurate manner to facilitate manufacturing schedule and demands by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform finished products and raw materials testing in an accurate, precise and efficient manner.
- Accurately review and analyze data for conformance to specifications and record test data. Analysis and procedures must show scientific judgement and be free of errors/omissions.
- Verify product compliance and alert management of any deviations from specs.
- Work closely with manufacturing to direct batch adjustments and end-product quality.
- Maintain general housekeeping and cleaning protocols of the Lab according to Company and compliance standards.
- Troubleshoot and report any Lab equipment maintenance to team, maintain records such as logs, documentation and calibration of equipment in the Lab.
- Participate in continuous improvement endeavors. Involvement in experiment design, execution, and customer complaint root cause evaluation.
- Generate product labels and Certificate of Analysis for finished products as needed.
- Handle product and raw material retains and scrap according to standards.
- Obtain and prepare samples as required for third party.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- One year Quality and/or Chemistry related certificate from college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven track record working in a Manufacturing process, Quality Assurance Laboratory.
- Excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; demonstrate professional interpersonal skills in order to be a successful team member.
- Self-starter, work under minimal supervision after training, stay organized and multitask throughout day in a fast-paced environment to manage all the tasks.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to interpret statistical process control charts and data.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality are required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and policies. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (or comparable); Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and seldom lift and/or move up to 25- 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
WORK* ENVIRONMENT *While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions by walking between buildings. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
