About the role:
Sustaera is looking for a Purchasing Manager to lead all sourcing and purchasing for key equipment required for our pilot and commercial facilities. This role will also include managing vendor relationships and tracking goods and services and will work with the Development, Deployment and Commercialization teams. The Purchasing Manager will be accountable to manage project buying across a portfolio of ~$2-15 MM projects.

Requirements:
BS in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration. Prior experience in procurement and purchasing and start-up experience preferred. Work on-site at Cary, North Carolina Headquarters required.

What you will bring:

  • 8+ years of experience purchasing / sourcing materials and services for manufacturing organizations, including engineered-to-order and non-commodity materials
  • Demonstrated ability to generate negotiated savings versus project budgets
  • Ability to collaborate with technical teams to ensure alignment of key sourcing priorities in support of differentiated products
  • High degree of organization to track outstanding purchase orders and identify expediting priorities
  • Comfort working in a start up environment, and ability to build scalable buying processes that grow with the company
  • Strong process ownership, with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience managing vendors to specific timelines, key performance indicators (KPIs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • RF(X) experience that includes RFIs, RFPs and spend model development. Extensive experience analyzing competitive quotations and making purchase recommendations from a combination of supplier cost, schedule, and technical dimensions
  • Experience with contract development, management, and implementation; including prioritization of terms and conditions relative to level of business risk
  • Supply market analysis experience

What you will do:

  • Report to Sustaera Project Director
  • Collaborate with project team to achieve on time, under budget delivery of projects
  • Serve as Single Point Contact with vendors, ensuring that technical team interactions are aligned with contract and vendor relationship priorities
  • Support the identification of new vendors as needed
  • Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms
  • Monitor service contracts for cost impact from scope creep or lack of definition
  • Review existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Create and approve purchase orders and track delivery of goods and services.
  • Perform expediting as needed
  • Perform risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements
  • Issue Supplier Corrective Action Reports as needed, for underperformance
  • Prepare procurement reports as requested
  • Support general consumables buying as requested
  • Develop receiving procedures
