Position: Purchasing Manager

Schreiber Foods International, Inc. is seeking a new Purchasing Manager due to a recent internal promotion. The Purchasing Manager will report to the Vice President of Purchasing and will help execute the procurement strategies that support our sales team in all segments (Foodservice, Restaurant Chains and Industrial). The individual will work with existing food suppliers, both overseas and domestic, while exploring new sources as needed. The position will focus on maintaining acceptable order-fill rates and days of inventory on-hand, taking into consideration supply chain conditions and crop seasons. You will also be responsible to uphold the quality standards of our brands.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Negotiate favorable terms of sale and price agreements with overseas and domestic suppliers
• Evaluate supplier capabilities and quality standards to ensure they align with SFI’s requirements
• Analyze inventory positions to optimize our order fill-rates and inventory turns
• Collaborate and support our Sales team, providing valuable insights and trends to sales team and our customers
• Support the Quality Assurance department to ensure our suppliers are in compliance with FDA and SFI standards, and assist in obtaining supplier documentation in a timely manner
• Participate in international and national food shows and conferences to meet with existing and prospective suppliers, source new items and maintain meaningful relations with our trading partners
• Collaborate with Import/Logistics Department to ensure steady flow of shipments associated with inventory management
• Manage relationships with key supplier partners to ensure continuity of supply and build valuable partnerships across our supplier network

Qualifications:

• Contract negotiation experience is required
• Excellent analytical and planning skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Thorough understanding of logistics and intricacies of shipping from different countries
• Must be able to travel internationally to meet with suppliers and review factories
• General understanding of import duties on products from foreign countries
• Ability to work independently while working within a team
• Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel and Outlook skills. Some knowledge in Power Point is preferred
• Friendly, courteous and helpful personality
• Desires the responsibility ownership and accountability of their work
• Bilingual is preferred but not required
• U.S. Citizenship or authorized U.S. Work Eligibility

Job Requirements:

• Must be willing and able to travel Nationally and Internationally (1-2 weeks/trip).
• Travel could be 25-30% annually
• Must possess or qualify for a valid USA issued passport

Education/Experience:

• Experience with a food manufacturer or importer in Procurement, Sourcing, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain or Production is highly preferred
• 5+ years of International Procurement experience in the food industry
• Degree in International Business or other related field preferred
