PUERTO RICO TRAVEL NANNY/EDUCATOR Job at The Nanny League, Inc.

The Nanny League, Inc. San Juan, PR 00901

Overview:

PUERTO RICO (OPEN TO ALL US CANDIDATES)-Dual physician parents with an entrepreneurial spirit seek a FULL-TIME LIVE IN TRAVEL NANNY/EDUCATOR for their three children, ages 18 months, 4, 7 years old. Position is approximately 45-50 hours/week with flexibility, especially during conferences and travel, typically from 8am-6pm most days Monday-Friday + an hour-long lunch break, and occasional evenings. Must be flexible with scheduling since the family travels frequently and attends full-day conferences approximately 3-5 days long once a month. Weekends come up occasionally with advanced notice.

They are an hour from San Juan. Living accommodations consist of a separate room and shared bathroom inside the gated community of Palmas Del Mar. They are moving to a new home in the near future. Their new home will have a wing for the nanny providing their own room, bathroom, etc. Until they move, the nanny will share a bathroom with the children temporarily. No car is provided for personal use. Nanny will need their own vehicle. A vehicle/driver/golf cart will be provided to transport the children when needed.

They are looking for an independent and competent individual who loves teaching, caring for kids, and is trustworthy. She/he is thoughtful, solution-oriented, and emotionally mature. Someone who can be socially independent and seek their own adventures when off the clock. Must execute good judgment in caring for the kids and keeping them safe. This individual confronts difficulties with a positive outlook and values personal growth and improvement. Someone who has a strong passion and love for working with children. You must have patience and communication skills to successfully interact with the children, understand their needs and help guide them to develop into good human beings. You will also need problem-solving skills and flexibility to be able to successfully deal with everyday issues that inevitably occur, especially when traveling. MUST HAVE PRIOR TEACHING EXPERIENCE.

They are looking for someone who is independent and self-sufficient but wants to be a part of a family. Because they travel frequently, work from home, and are very involved in raising their children, they want someone who loves to spend time with people and with children. You must have strong communication skills and the ability to handle difficult conversations with honesty and transparency. Open communication from a place of care for each other will be a vital part of maintaining everyone’s relationship during stressful times. You must teach and reinforce family values such as emotional intelligence and regulation and independence, grit and self-worth. Your job is not to do things for the children, but rather teach them how to do things for themselves and foster independence and self-confidence.

The family plans to live around 5-7 months a year in Puerto Rico, travel all over the US, and spend a significant amount of time traveling through Europe and other countries. There will be times they will remain in the same place for several months at a time. Other times it will be a matter of a week or two. Nanny will need to be flexible and love frequent travel and changes. Travel plans can change dramatically. For example, if they loved living in Italy, they could see spending several months a year there, rather than spending significant amounts of time elsewhere. On the other hand, a family illness could lead the family to spend time in Hawaii with aging parents or in Puerto Rico. The ability to quickly pivot and change plans is essential to thriving in this position.

Their family culture is one that believes and supports an environment where many different genders, races, nationalities, and sexual orientations, and identities are valued and respected. The ideal candidate will be open to doing the same.
