The City of Salem Public Works Department is seeking to fill the role of Wastewater Collection Maintenance Operator II for the Public Works Operations Division.

What you will do:
The Sanitary Collections Maintenance Operator II is responsible for operating various construction equipment in the construction, repair, and maintenance of the wastewater collection system. Equipment includes tools such as air compressors, tapping machines, generators, jackhammers, compactors, chippers, gas-powered cutoff saws, as well as small to medium-heavy equipment including; dump trucks, truck/trailer combinations, loaders, forklifts, hydro-cleaners, backhoe, excavators, and other equipment unique to wastewater collection system maintenance and construction.

• Position schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm. Call back, standby and overtime may be required on a rotating basis.

• Must pass the pre-employment background check, drug test (including marijuana), and physical abilities exam.
• Must have an Oregon Commercial Driver license (CDL) and have a driving record that meets the City of Salem's driving standards.
• Two years general maintenance, repair, paving, or construction experience in street right-of- way, street maintenance, public works facilities, utility systems, and public improvements. Preference will be given to experience in operating a backhoe or excavator in public construction or maintenance projects; or any combination of experience and training that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and abilities as listed, and ability to perform the essential job functions.
