Provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy for children and their families and may provide educational trainings for El Centro staff.
Essential Functions
- Conducts psychiatric evaluations
- Conducts psychosocial assessments
- Develop treatment plans, which may include psychoanalysis, psychotherapy, hospitalization and medication
- Writes and maintains progress notes for psychiatric and psychotherapy sessions
- Maintains and updates client records
- Consults with psychotherapists relating to mutual clients
- Makes appropriate referrals for clients (within or outside of agency)
- Obtains client records when needed (school, MHMRA, etc.)
- Participates in weekly interdisciplinary staff meetings
- Maintains ongoing communication with school staff
- Maintains monthly statistics and abides by agency’s Policies and Procedures manual and Mental Health department Policies and Procedures.
Position Qualifications
- Must have a valid medical license to practice in Texas, be in good standing and experience working in a high volume clinic environment.
- Graduate of a formal accredited medical school and certified to practice by Texas State Board of Licensure and Supervision
- Preferably Board certified in Psychiatry with a high level of competency in working with mental health issues, children and adolescents, families and diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic settings
- Interest and/or experience in collaboration with interdisciplinary health teams
- Possess unrestricted DEA certificate; excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
- Compliance with professional and ethical standards of health care delivery
- Required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or willing to be administered vaccinations upon hire
