General Statement of Responsibilities:
The psychiatrist provides diagnostic and psychopharmacologic services, as well as supportive psychotherapy to eligible University of Minnesota students at Boynton Health. They serve as a consultant for other members of the Health Service staff and the University community.
The psychiatrist must abide by the medical staff by-laws, rules and regulations and medical policies as established by the medical staff of Boynton Health, the Mental Health Clinic, and Regents of the University of Minnesota, as well as the laws of the State of Minnesota.

Salary: Offer is contingent on experience level and years of practice, the salary range is $240,000 - $275,000 annually.
Detailed Job Responsibilities:
Provide psychiatric services to eligible students. The scope of this position may include but is not limited to the following:
- Comprehensive medical and psychosocial evaluation and diagnosis of mental health conditions.
- Ordering of appropriate lab and other diagnostic tests with interpretation of findings.
- Prescribing and management of appropriate psychiatric medications.
- Education of patients about the diagnosis and treatment of their psychiatric and medical conditions, appropriate self-care, and use of the healthcare system.
- Provision of psychotherapeutic interventions where appropriate.
- Referral of patients to appropriate levels and specializations of psychiatric and medical care.
- Completion of medical records in an accurate, thorough, and timely fashion.
- Gathering and review of past pertinent medical records.
- Monitoring of patient psychiatric conditions through appropriate follow-up.
- Address urgent and routine patient and peer communications in a timely manner.
- Collaboration and consultation with other Boynton Health disciplines involved in the delivery of total patient care.
- Utilization of University academic and other supportive services in aid of patients.
- Collaboration with other psychiatric colleagues through regular consultation and support through patient care coverage.
- Assist patients in continuity of care when they are no longer eligible for psychiatric services at Boynton Health.
- Participation in development and review of psychiatric service workflows and procedures.
- Participation in continuing education.
- Provide supervision to psychiatry trainees as needed.
- Availability for in-service training, discussion or consultation as requested by various departments within Boynton Health and the University.
- Service on committees of Boynton Health and the University.
- Promote a safe, equitable, and respectful environment in which concerns can be addressed effectively.
- Provide patient care and professional collaboration that is culturally competent.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- M.D. or D.O. Degree from an accredited program.
- Board eligible or certified in the specialty of psychiatry.
- Maintenance of a program of professional improvement if board certified.
- DEA Certification
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion. COVID vaccination or proof of religious or medical exemption required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of responsible professional service as a psychiatrist in a mental health setting
- Experience working with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
