The Opportunity::

The Project Engineer Wind, while under guidance of senior unit members, will be responsible for early engineering efforts for multiple utility scale wind projects. This roles provides support to Senior and Lead Project Engineers and Project Developers primarily during the development phase of a project, with limited support as needed during construction phase. The Project Engineer will develop preliminary designs based on project-specific constraints and engineering best practices and will seek optimization opportunities.

What You'll Do at Enel::

While under guidance and direction of senior team members, responsibilities, include, but not limited to:

  • Providing conceptual and preliminary design products for use throughout the organization and external parties.
  • Conducting field visits as necessary with qualified individuals to assess site suitability for use with project facilities and equipment.
  • Synthesizing project constraint information related to the transmission system, geology, transportation systems, available utilities, etc., into feasibility reports or map products for use by the project stakeholders.
  • Tracking and resolution of engineering related issues, constraints and tasks.
  • Developing and maintaining software and technology standards for use across the organization and externally amongst project collaborators.
  • Filing permits on behalf of the project.
  • Collaborate on turbine model selection process with concept designs, technical alignment, and option selection
  • Participate in design reviews to evaluate compliance with constraints and identify optimization opportunities
  • Support lead and senior project engineers, as well as the other units within the Organization, with the overall planning of the project's design activities
  • Develop, create, and regularly update the design guidelines to be used for any RFPs to be issued by the Organization and / or to be used by external co-developers
  • Document relevant information gleaned from meetings and dialog with engineering and construction partners, providing research and follow-up as necessary
  • Provide engineering support to the other units of the Organization for completing the Hand Over of the Project to the Operation and Maintenance Function of the Organization (closure construction Punch List, completion of the AS-BUILT drawings, etc.)
  • Implements lessons learned continuously in the projects, sharing the best practices and knowledge with the other units of the Organization and inside the Design Unit.
  • Provide feedback for the continuous improvement of the design methodologies to the Head of the Design Unit.
Who You Are:: - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably from an ABET-accredited program; EIT is preferred; - 0-3 years of relevant experience; - Knowledge of overall design and construction of wind power plants is preferred; - Basic economics general knowledge; - Ability to work under close supervision; - Proficient in Autocad and ArcGIS; - Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; - Excellent written and verbal communication; - Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively support and work well with people from different disciplines; - Superior organizational skills and detail oriented to ensure accuracy and quality; - Adaptability and flexibility to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change; - Experience working in a multicultural environment is preferred; - Ability to work within a global framework and a matrix organization; - Ability to work within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams; - Fluent in English is required, Spanish and/or Italian is considered a plus; - Up to 20% of domestic travel and occasional international travel; - A valid driver’s license operable in all 50 states and Canada and a clean driving record. A clean driving records means: - In the last 3 years, no driving-related suspension, revocation or cancellation, no disqualifying offenses, no more than 2 moving violations and no reckless driving incidents. - In the last 5 years, no major driving offenses including DUI/DWI, refusal to test, leaving the scene, driving a commercial vehicle without a CDL, or at-fault fatal accident.
