Summary of Duties:
The Office of Academic Engagement (OAE) supports student involvement in high impact educational experiences at Washington State University. Our access, success, and affordability programs help students stay in college, graduate in on time, and prepare for life after graduation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to implementing systems and methods for student programs and services; serving as the primary contact for the Commons Student Center and all programs associated with the unit; providing day-to-day support and student service referral; interpreting and enforcing academic policies and procedures as they pertain to the organization; monitoring and evaluating student services and operational effectiveness; providing information and clarification regarding University policies/procedures to students, faculty, staff and parents; recruitment activities and other forms of student services; representing the organization with internal and external constituents.

Assistance in purchasing, budget management, inventory control and supply, equipment and office space need determination and utilization, mail distribution, forms analysis, and vehicle utilization and staff/program participant travel arrangements. Provides office support and business management services.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in administrative, finance, and record management.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Attention to details, organized, and multi-tasking to meet deadlines.
  • Experience analyzing, evaluating, using professional judgment and/or applying a comprehensive depth of knowledge of student issues.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in Higher Education.
  • Knowledgeable with both PC, Mac, tablet hard/software.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables and Power Queries.
  • Knowledgeable in Adobe Creative Suite and/or WordPress.
  • Knowledgeable in Workday Administrative Systems.
  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Previous work experience at an institution of higher education.
  • One or more years of experience advising/counseling students in a higher education setting or equivalent.
  • Experience working with diverse faculty, students and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and leadership, including the ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with Washington State University academic rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with Washington State University Business Policies and Procedures.
  • Professional experience related to the design, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs and strategic planning at college.

Monthly Salary:

Range 42, $3,401 to $4,541 (A-M) | Scheduled salary increment increases are received in accordance with WAC 357-28.
