The Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) is accepting applications for a Program Services Evaluator (PSE) II. As part of the Office of Licensing and Regulation (OLR), the PSE II will be responsible for coordinating and completing background checks, ensuring prospective family foster home placements, child welfare licensed employees, and licensing agency employees meet established background guidelines.

DCS’s Office of Licensing and Regulation is the licensing and regulatory authority that licenses and monitors Foster Homes, Congregate Care Agencies, Child Placing Agencies, and Adoption Agencies across the State of Arizona.

Job Duties:
  • Ensures applications/records requests are complete; in addition to verifying accuracy of payments
  • Oversees the fingerprint clearance, and background check process (Central Registry and Adam Walsh checks); in addition to updating internal databases and tracking logs
  • Provides technical assistance via telephone or email to field staff, service providers, licensees, and the community
  • Receives and directs calls
  • Provides administrative support to Foster Home Licensing, Child Welfare Licensing, Life Safety Inspections, Policy, and OLR leadership
  • Serves as a backup to the OLR licensing coordinators
  • Assists with weekly huddle board metrics and end of week reports
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of:
  • Regulatory principles and practices, as well as federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to licensing, renewal and safety inspection requirements
  • State and agency policies and procedures governing licensing
  • Problem solving techniques
  • Personal computers and software (e.g. Microsoft Office, Access, Excel, etc.)

Skill in:
  • Organization and workload management
- Utilizing computer software, which includes but not limited to Microsoft Office, Quick Connect, - Planning and prioritizing work

  • Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • The ability to secure and maintain clearance from the DCS Central Registry.
  • Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

  • Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
