Description/Job Summary
The Professional Development Coordinator of Real Estate is a key role within the department and central to all aspects of the group's legal talent development efforts. The Coordinator will focus 50% of their time on managing a range of associate development activities for their aligned practice area including assigning, mentoring efforts, integration, development initiatives, recruiting efforts and overall talent engagement. The Coordinator will focus the other 50% of their time on supporting the Legal Talent Development Team, including, but not limited to, assisting with the administration of the Bi-Annual Attorney Review process and supporting the orientation and integration process for new Associates. This highly visible role is an integral part of the Legal Talent Team and will work closely with both partners in the department (including the practice group leader and staffing partner).Responsibilities/Duties
Staffing (New York Office)
- Work closely with the staffing partner to allocate assignments and structure teams by assessing attorney availability, experience, skills and utilization
- Help maintain an equitable level of utilization across the department
- Aggregate and analyze various attorney metrics including hours and availability
- Coordinate and track associate vacation schedules, leaves of absence and related coverage
- Liaise with Director, Staff Attorneys and Paralegals to coordinate and track staff attorney vacation schedules, leaves of absence and related coverage
- Assist Legal Talent team members with the rotation system of junior associates among the transactional practices in the New York Office
Professional Development Support
- Performance Reviews
- Coordinate with and assist the Legal Talent Team and relevant practice group partner with ensuring robust feedback is provided to each associate in the group in a timely fashion
- Assist with intake of verbal evaluations on an as needed basis
- Liaise with Associate Director, Professional Development on key takeaways from DEI pipeline building discussions
- Mentoring & Engagement Related
- Support the practice group head and relevant partners with ensuring that attorneys in the group have strong mentoring connections and team-based interactions
- Conduct weekly check-ins with associates to assess morale and ensure engagement
- Work closely with the Legal Talent team to pair associates with mentors and partner advisors (New York Office only)
- Ensure mentors are connecting and engaging in dialogue about ongoing professional development goals
- Liaise with Coordinator of Associate Life and the relevant branch office Legal Talent Team member on the progress of mentoring relationships
- Assist with and/or initiate planning a variety of team building, social and mentoring related events within the group to foster connectivity
- Serve as a resource and point of contact to provide an active feedback loop between associates, firm leadership and the partners in the group
- Departmental Lunches & Training Programs
- Support the Training Partner in arranging monthly departmental lunches and related logistics
- Support the Legal Training Coordinator, Manager of Legal Practice Training, relevant partners and Knowledge Management Lawyer with coordination and implementation of practice specific training programs, including the following:
- Serving as the point of contact for presenters and managing program scheduling, registration and logistics with conference facilities, food service and technology
- Assembling, producing and distributing training materials
- Drafting and distributing program communications, including maintaining and updating training email lists
- Providing on-site support for training program to ensure proper set-up and that the event runs smoothly
- Assist with logistics as needed for practice-specific training programs during STBReady and STBAdvance
- Liaise with the Recruiting Department with respect to summer associate and lateral associate hires into the practice group and help to ensure integration
- Coordinate regularly with other professional service team members (e.g. practice KM lawyer, DEI and Training Teams) to further practice group initiatives
- Provide ongoing general support and assistance to the Legal Talent Development Team
- Assist with the administration of the Bi-Annual Attorney Review process
- Support the orientation and integration process for new Associates
- Plan and coordinate Firm-wide events and meetings, such as "Welcome to the Floor" parties, Fall Orientation, external and internal social events, attorney dinners and monthly Coffee Hours, as well as relevant notifications and correspondence
- General support and assistance as needed
- Work on a variety of ad hoc projects as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Must be flexible to adjust hours to meet departmental needs
Required Experience
- 2-3+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Experience
- Prior law firm experience preferred
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree required

Salary Information
The estimated base salary range for this position is $70k to $88k at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is non-exempt meaning that it is overtime pay eligible.
