Production Supervisor

Job Description
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the overall operational responsibilities for the facility. The position will be a “HANDS ON/WORKING” SUPERVISOR position.

Safety First

• Views safety as a core value and manages accordingly
• Develops and implements safety policies in accordance with company protocol
• Assures adherence to safety procedures and work instructions in accordance with company protocol
• Promotes safety awareness through structured formats and associate communications
• Reviews safety performance and promotes continuous improvement
• Assures adherence to Federal, State, and Local regulations regarding safety and environmental compliance
• Sets housekeeping expectations for each factory

Quality Always

• Helps to develop and implement ISO Quality management policies and procedures
• Assures adherence to quality procedures and work instructions as scripted through ISO protocol
• Promotes quality awareness through structured formats and follow-ups
• Assists in proper investigation, root cause analysis, development and implementation of corrective actions of non-conforming product as well as incidents and accidents.
• Reviews quality performance and promotes continuous improvement
• Assures customer satisfaction through metrics and Management review protocol

Position Responsibilities

• Coach, counsel, train and develop employee skills.
• Review work schedules and production schedules for optimum results.
• Lead and motivate employees to maximize productivity and minimize operating costs.
• Ensure that products are produced at an acceptable quality level.
• Drive department compliance with established safety, training and ensure compliance with all company policies, plant rules and all regulatory agencies.
• Facilitates operations training and qualification process
• Maximizes operational efficiency by ensuring that units run in optimal operating conditions to maximize product yields
• Participate in and lead LEAN manufacturing activities as needed
• Conduct routine safety and sanitation inspections to promote employee safety and good housekeeping.
• Manages materials to meet recognized production requirements and in accordance with inventory management practices
• Schedule production for the plant’s product circuits
• Manages productivity and efficiencies using metrics and continuous improvement protocol
• Possesses and continuously develops knowledge of customer requirements and factory’s ability to produce

Sales/Communication/Other Duties

• Fills in for Production Manager when required
• Effectively communicates with associates, sales and customer service and acts as mentor
• Other duties as assigned by Production Manager and/or Plant Manager
• Ability to work flex shift, as needed
• The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Education and Additional Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline with two or more years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good Computer Skills Required.
• Knowledge of inventory systems, quality systems, OSHA & EPA requirements, and ERP required.
• Lean Six Sigma experience a plus
• Must speak and write English. Ability to speak and/or write Spanish is a plus.
