Position Summary: The Production Specialist is a frontline employee responsible for ensuring good manufacturing practices are being followed at all times in order to safeguard the quality of product so that our customer receive the highest quality possible! This person could have various tasks on our production lines from drilling, filling, and sorting to inspecting product and/ or packaging the product. The ideal candidate would be willing to work individually or as a team. Once this candidate learns the production line the candidate could have the opportunity to move in to other roles such as Machine Operator or to other departments within McCain!


Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform various tasks that include, but not limited to drilling, filling, inspecting, sorting, and packaging of food products to meet quality specifications and quantity standards.
  • Inspect all products, raw and finished, for use according to quality specifications and communicate any discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform sanitation on assigned equipment and work area.
  • Backfill for operators. Duties include setup of equipment, start-up and shutdowns, monitoring production and troubleshoot as needed, and complete quality checks on assigned equipment and work areas.
  • Make necessary adjustments to equipment to meet company standards and product specifications and communicate operational problems and equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform assignments in accordance with established food safety and quality policies, including all USDA, FDA, and WDA guidelines, procedures and work instructions.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and clean work areas in assigned work sites.
  • Accurate and timely completion of required documentation.
  • Operate the forklift.
  • Follow proper safety and GMP guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 6 months manufacturing experience is a PLUS!
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions both written and oral as well as read and interpret schedules related to production/ product schedules and line changeovers.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate in Basic English and interact with all levels of the organization. Must be able to enter data into a computer.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per shift and lift up to 35 pounds.


Physical Demand:
Constant: use and movement of hands and standing on regularly scheduled shift.
Frequently: Bending, grasping of hands, and reaching for up to 3 -6 hours daily.
Occasionally: Walking, bending at the waist, squatting, kneeling, and twisting at the neck and waist, pushing and pulling for up to 3 hours a day.
