As a Production Engineering Specialist, you will drive improvements in production of Instrument Transformers & Sensors (ITS) in Electrification Distribution Solutions (ELDS) in Pinetops, North Carolina. You will optimize the Production organization’s assembly methods, processes and equipment in order to minimize labor hours in accordance with business strategies related to quality, efficiency, costs and safety.

Production Development Manager

Your responsibilities

  • Analysis of the production processes and study and implementation of improvements [HSE (Health, Safety & Environment), Productivity, Quality & Cost] with focus on lean manufacturing, automation and digitalization
  • Participate in the sequence definition, cycle time calculation, analysis of the working phases, Layout design, Technologies to be implemented for manufacturing and testing, of new production processes/products, in order to achieve the targeted product cost & volumes and equipment investment budget
  • Ensure appropriate equipment performance and materials/components in support of production targets
  • Problem solving analysis and investigation. Support production during start ups by training indirect and direct staff
  • Preliminary supplier involvement and co engineering approach. Manage engineering changes impact on existing processes
  • Preparation of technical specifications finalized to the Purchase Order of new equipment or modification on the existing automated production lines with technical notes, project data and layout. Estimation of Capex
  • Identify and recommend improvement opportunities and work on implementing projects, ensuring adherence to timeframe, quality and cost requirements
  • Take part at the new product industrialization, collaborating with R&D (Research & Development), quality and testing department
  • Consulting and working with production operators and supervisors to implement changes on the production line

Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronic, Robotics, Automation, Managing or Industrial Engineering and minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing process, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement culture
  • Experience in cross functional teams in international and multicultural work environment
  • Good knowledge of SolidWorks and Autocad
  • Good knowledge of Office, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge on PowerBI and programming is a plus
  • Fluency in English
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
