As the Product Designer you will successfully design and develop product for licensed products. Working closely with internal cross functional departments and external partners you will be tasked to deliver on innovative and exciting toy product(s) that are fun to play with! This includes the preparation of 2D, 3D models and prototypes for internal management review, development turnover and licensor approvals, championing products from concept to completion - demonstrating creative thinking and innovation on a wide variety of projects to support and align with brand strategies and objectives.

What you will do:

• Oversee projects through the entire design, development, and QC/QA processes; being conscientious of cost, quality, and schedule
• Work collaboratively with your branding, product management, engineering, packaging, licensing, and other internal and external team partners to create product that is the best fit for the brand
• Generating new toy concepts to enhance the brand
• Prepare both 2D and 3D materials that make effective concept presentations to management, internal partners, and licensors
• Support the overall strategic goals of product within a brand providing direction and feedback during the development process that is attentive to licensor and internal brand needs
• Successfully evolve from concept through initial ideation, refinement, prototype execution and turn over packages to development teams
• Work closely with the Design Manager to assure designs meet the target cost
• Communicate with packaging design to assure product and packaging are in line
• Paint master color review, prepare submissions and comments for internal and licensor approvals
• 3D sculpt turn review, prepare submissions and comments
• Develop product documentation and specifications sheets to send to the Asia team for development
• Provide support to the Product Design Manger and Senior Product design manager
• Prepare and lead meetings, track minutes, manage action items for the team
• Act as a trainer and mentor for product managers, and associate product managers
• Photograph and prepare licensor submissions on paint masters and samples
• Prepare and update app catalog w/ concept, planograms, and line lists
• Builds consensus between members throughout the design process

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s Degree in toy design, industrial design, industrial engineering, or industry relevant field
• 5+ years of product design or other relevant experience
• 5+ years of experience working with global manufacturing factories (Asia preferred)
• Exhibit interest and proactively gains knowledge of the current trends/innovations as well as an understanding the competitive marketplace in the toy industry
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office & G-Suite
• Strong proficiency in adobe creative suite (illustrator, photoshop, and indesign)
• Able to work cross functionally and reciprocally with multiple departments
• Able to work independently or collaboratively
• Self-Motivated
• Knowledge of materials and multiple manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of working with licensed brands
• Exceptional visual, verbal, and written communication skills
• Able to multitask, organize, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Demonstrates a strong design sense, including a well-developed sense of aesthetics

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the toy/baby/costume/pets industry
• Knowledge of 3D modeling, sculpting, and rendering (Familiar with Zbrush/Rhino/Fusion 360) a plus
• Multilingual a plus
