Job Summary:

The Vice President of Engineering will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee activities in the Engineering
department. The Vice President of Engineering will be responsible for ensuring that products meet design
requirements and deliver a consistent experience for users. This person will recruit world-class talent and
create the proper organizational structure to drive a high performing development team to deliver these
solutions to the market with relentless execution. This person will keep abreast of and influence technology
trends, standards, and stakeholders which will further enhance adoption of the Company’s solutions, and
work in tandem with the other members of the executive team as well as the marketing team to further define
our product roadmap and deliver against it. This person will bring experience in developing industry leading
products, and will develop and sustain a culture of passion, hard-work, and innovation that will make the
company a place to be for anyone interested in developing next generation solutions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Implements the strategic direction of the company’s engineering and development initiatives.

Collaborates with the company’s executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals
while supplying expertise and guidance.

Identifies, recommends, and implements new technologies and systems to advance company
objectives.

Understands and collaborate on the complete product lifecycle from concept to execution.

Relentlessly drives performance and accountability within the Engineering organization to meet
Engineering objectives and Business Line deliverables on time, on scope and on cost

Leads the engineering teams to promote a high-performance, results-driven environment with a strict
adherence to project management requirements.

Attracts, develops and retains top talent for the R&D function, while motivating staff to continually
improving its performance.

Directly responsible for establishing and managing the operating budget

Develops, directs and maintains a system to manage all product development programs and
projects, including a rigorous review process, to ensure attainment of key milestones and adherence
to product specifications, quality standards, timelines and budgets.

Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in engineering and development related
to diabetes industry.

Performs other projects as needed.

Works with Quality and Regulatory Assurance to ensure products are developed and validated in a
manner that complies with global regulatory requirements for Class II and Class II medical devices

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required

15 years of experience in progressive research and development leadership roles within companies
that develop, manufacture and sell complex medical devices.

Experience working with both software development and hardware engineering in a multidisciplinary
environment.

Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills with the ability to explain approach to all
levels in the organization including key stakeholders

Experience in setting and scaling the research and development function, with the proven ability to
attract, inspire, motivate and retain top tier talent.

Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse engineering organization

Experience with systems engineering

Experience with software and electronic hardware development in an agile environment

Medical Device Regulatory, Quality Assurance and Compliance experience.

In-depth direct knowledge of diabetes technologies and markets, including emerging
technologies and market trends

Successful track record of transitioning from prototype development to high volume manufacturing

Experience in high revenue, high volume, medical technology manufacturing companies
