What you’ll do:
Working in Intellectual Property Rights Acquisition the Principal, IP Acquisitons Director will be responsible for the following primary duties:
The Principal, IP Acquisition Director serves in a product owner-type role in IPRA Scrum teams, ensuring proper prioritization of work within IPRA sprints and alignment with business objectives in major programs and deliverables.
Efficiently and effectively plans, implements, and delivers assigned projects while meeting expected content quality standards within required time frames and budgets.
Serves as an innovation partner to the Director, IP Acquisitions in refining process development, creating a collaborative team environment and partnering across the organization to advance and optimize IPRA initiatives.
Manages projects and collaborates with cross-functional groups to manage IP acquisition/commissioning activites for art, photo, text, audio and video assets, serving as IP acquisition subject matter expert.
Takes a lead role in coordinating IPRA team members during early project planning, assuring all elements of IP acquisition program are accurately scoped, planned and budgeted and fulfill the user requirements for internal and external customers.
Collaborates in setting definition of done for IPRA stories during Sprints and ensures proper balance of asset compliance and incremental delivery of program components.
Works with Lead Acquisition Specialists to build and maintain strong relationships with vendor partners to clearly define ensure high-quality results and adherence to HMH protocols and standards.
Monitors and maintains schedule and budget fidelity across projects.
Leads early project planning, assuring requisite IPRA work is accurately planned and budgeted for.
What you’ll need: (
Minimum 5-7 years of experience:
BS/BA in related disciple
Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and frameworks
Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and on budget
Experience in: vendor management, highly collaborative team environments, peer leadership and driving results
Understanding of: rights and permissions workflows and common practices related to various types of IP, contract language and negotiation, project forecasting and budget activities
Ability to: communicate compellingly, respond to and thrive in change
People skills needed to: collaborate, influence and lead peers, communicate with senior leaders in the organization
Preferred but not necessary:
Certifications in Lean, Scrum or other related Agile frameworks
Acumen with Smartsheet, Jira, and rights management systems and/or digital asset management systems

Salary Range - $70,000 - $80,000 plus generous bonus plan.
