Supports all aspects of the mechanical repair and maintenance of vehicles, machines, equipment and facilities. This position will have the ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as have the ability to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains, repairs and overhauls heavy vehicles and industrial equipment
• Interprets work orders and technical manuals
• Keeps equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained
• Diagnoses faults or malfunctions
• Adjusts equipment and repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systems
• Obey all workplace health and safety and code of conduct workplace rules
• Undertake the training and assessment required under the training plan

Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills

• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
• Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing
• Ability to drive truck with a manual transmission
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Needs excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
• Previous CDL truck driving experience preferred
• Waste industry experience, a plus
• Completion of college or vocational or technical training
• Experience with routine maintenance operations is required

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

• Works under moderate supervision
• Requires lifting up to 50-75 pounds, pushing, pulling and bending
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be 21 years of age, or older
• A GED or high school diploma is required
