What does a Preschool Assistant do?

• Is aware and maintains a licensed program in accordance with Title XXII regulations. Makes available any other information required by Community Care Licensing.
• Plans, supervises, and implements the program in accordance with the policies and philosophies of the YMCA.
• Assists in planning, development and implementation of curriculum-based developmentally appropriate topics and activities for young children.
• Gears the program to the needs of the individual child with regard for his/her interests, special needs, and socioeconomic background.
• Helps each child become aware of his/her role as a group member.
• Assists in the direct supervision of children in order to maintain licensing regulations.
• Are responsible for maintaining classroom cleanliness and orderliness.
• Assist in providing close supervision of all children insuring childrens health, safety and well-being.

What we look for in a Preschool Aide

• Certifications/Trainings required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED and First Aid.
• TB test and Health Screening required. TB test must be less than 1 year old.
• At least 18 years of age, High School diploma or equivalent.
• Possess a minimum of 12 units of Child Development, Recreation, Elementary Education, or related field accepted by licensing.
• Must be sensitive, mature individual, able to relate well with both children and adults, with asincere interest in working with school aged children.
• Understanding of child development and lesson plans recommended.
• Must have one year experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
