U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated building maintenance services company, is currently accepting resumes for the position of Plumber located in Philadelphia PA. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all plumbing, all domestic hot and cold-water systems, sanitary drainage systems, pumps and fixtures throughout the campus. Responsible for performing routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance and repairs, including fixture replacement. Will assemble, install, repair pipes, fitting fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains and annually tests and certified back flow preventers.
  • Responsible for testing and certification of sprinkler system and fire pump.
  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
  • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
  • Review blueprints and building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures.
  • Prepare written work cost estimates.
  • Study building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring.
  • Keep records of assignments and produce detailed work reports, (paper and/or on-line) in a timely manner.
  • Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
  • Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers and water heaters, and fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and penal toilets, using hand and power tools.
  • Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools.
  • Hang steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.
  • Repair and maintain plumbing, replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, and opening clogged drains.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, (paper and/or on-line) in a timely manner.
  • Ability to speak effectively.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and floor plans.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

May be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth above to address business needs and changing business practices.

Qualifications:

  • Basic literacy and the strength and dexterity required to perform heavy lifting tasks
  • Must have HS diploma
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the plumbing trades
  • Licensed at the Journeyman level in the City of Philadelphia
  • Licenses in City with Back Flow Preventer Certification.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Must have a history of safe work practices and training.
  • Must possess basic computer skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Management, our customers, contractors and co-workers.
  • Must have a willingness to learn new skills and assist co-workers.
  • Valid Driver’s license
