Darren M. Smith, MD, PC is looking for an exceptional registered nurse to join our team. Extensive perioperative nursing experience in plastic surgery will inform his or her ability to anticipate and excel in meeting the patient care and surgical needs of the practice. General Description:

The role will have two components: First, the plastic surgery nurse will assist Dr. Smith in managing his patients during all phases of care. Second, he or she will be responsible for managing the operative suite such that it is: 1) maintained in accordance with AAAASF guidelines, 2) prepared with the necessary staff, equipment, and supplies, and 3) scheduled in a safe, efficient, and orderly manner.

Specific Responsibilities:

The core of this role is providing, preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative care for patients. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of cosmetic procedures and excellent bedside manner (friendly, empathetic, and adaptable). Your daily responsibilities will be to:

• Assist in surgical as well as non-invasive procedures in the office (e.g. Morpheus8/ PRP)
• Manage/oversee all clinical personnel.
• Staff the operating room depending on the cases scheduled for the day (e.g. second nurse, scrub tech, circulating nurse)
• Ensure patient’s lab testing/medical clearance/covid results are up to date and satisfactory prior to surgery.
• Turn over an operating room in under 30 minutes to start the next case.
• Ensure the operating room is stocked with at least 2 weeks’ worth of surgical supplies at any time. Complete inventory on a weekly basis and order what is needed.
• Be prepared to call/email or discuss in-person any clinical questions from patients regarding care during the perioperative period.
• Be present at post-operative appointments
• Discuss patients' procedures with them and explaining what they can expect before, during, and after the procedure.
• Manage your time effectively and be prepared to pre-op the patients for the next surgical day by 12PM the day before surgery.

Requirements:

• BSN degree
• 2+ years of clinical experience including plastic surgery operating room
• Active New York State Nursing License
• ACLS/BLS certification
• Strong communication skills
• Teamwork-oriented mindset with a “can do” attitude
• Flexibility, dependability, punctuality
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Able to maintain professionalism in the workplace
