Plant Health Foreman Job at Midwest Trading
To oversee the plant health functions and ensure that nursery stock and landscape are free from pests and diseases. Providing growers with guidance for cultural care, fertility, and all plant health functions.
Plant Health Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve plant health knowledge throughout continuing education
- Establish regular disease and insect monitoring schedule
- Ensure pesticide appications are completed and executed in a safe manner
- Keep pesticide records
- Properly operate container sterilizer to disinfect reused containers
- Oversee the composting of the property
Leadership Responsibilities
- Train personnel and oversee granular herbicide applications
- Assist in training the Illinois Lead Sprayer Operator
- Monitor soil fertility and irrigation management with the department growers to ensure optimum growing conditions for nursery stock
- Maintain clean and orderly chemical storage rooms
Required education and /or experience
- Associates or Bachelors degreee in Horticulture Science or related field, or equivalent work experence
- 3-5 years of general nursery experience
- 2 years of experience operating equipment (tractor, forklift, skid loader)
- Valid Illinois driver’s license
- Acquire and maintain Illinois Pesticide License
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
