Job Summary: The phlebotomist performs a variety of venipuncture techniques and collects blood specimens (using an electronic positive patient id system) from patients in support of laboratory procedures used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Accurately orders, collects, transports and processes all specimens for laboratory testing. The phlebotomist is also responsible for retrieving and delivering all specimens which are delivered to the laboratory. Other duties include supply stocking, scanning of documents for EMR and clerical duties.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of standard phlebotomy techniques and appropraite blood processing and handling procedures.
- Accurately complete and maintain patient documents and records; understand and follow specific clinical protocol and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Basic Life Support/CPR
Preferred/ Desired:
- 1 to 3 years of experience
- Graduate of phlebotomy training program
- Clinical Laboratory Profession
