If an applicant does not hold a certification in good standing as a pharmacy technician from a certifying organization, the Board may issue a provisional certification, during which time the applicant may obtain such certification. Provisional certification is valid for no more than 18-months unless extended by the Board due to hardship.”

ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. Communicate concerns to Pharmacy Director. Does not wait to be rounded on to share concerns.
2. Accurately selects the correct drug and dispenses the correct quantity when preparing medications
3. Demonstrates reasonable knowledge of and complies with regulations governing the practice of pharmacy
4. Exhibits knowledge of pharmacy calculations, expected drug knowledge, and retail pharmacy policies and procedures
5. Properly document dispensing activities as required by pharmacy policy
6. Performs other duties as assigned and requested.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Prior hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
• Previous customer service experience is required.

CERTIFICATIONS and/or LICENSING

• Certification or provisional certification from the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy is required.
• The provisional certification allows 18 months for the Pharmacy Technician to obtain

certification by a board-approved, nationally-recognized organization that certifies pharmacy technicians.

HRRMC's Out Patient Retail Pharmacy has a part time ( 32 hours per week ) position as a In patient Pharmacy Tech. Certification with the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or provisional certification is required within 18 months of hire. The pharmacy technicians’ role is to support the pharmacists in accordance with Colorado state law for the ultimate goal of serving the patient. Pharmacy technician is an unlicensed person who performs the preparation, mixing, assembling, packaging, labeling, or delivery of a drug or device; proper and safe storage of drugs or devices; the maintenance of proper records for such drugs and devices under the supervision of a pharmacist.
