Payroll Specialist (Part-Time) Job at MP RPO
Job Summary:
Milton's Distributing Co., Inc. is a family-owned importer and wholesale distributor of alcoholic beverages. The business has been in existence for over eighty years. Milton's Operates in partnership with Hope Beverage, LLC, a sister wholesale distribution company as well as with Gordon Logistics, LLC, a third-party logistics provider. The business is led by a third-generation family member. She has been in the leadership role for over seventeen years. There is a fiduciary board comprised of second and third generation family members as well as an advisory board made up of accomplished leaders from family business, the alcoholic beverage import and distribution industry as well as third party logistics.
We are seeking a part-time Payroll Specialist to work a 24 hour/week schedule (Monday - Wednesday) to perform all functions necessary for the preparation and processing of a weekly multi-state, multi-company payroll for 175+ employees in ADP. This position would be on-site.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the processing of payroll for various entities including the transmission of payroll, special payments, review of uploaded hours and perform calculations, day to day maintenance, direct deposit, and entry of employee records such as withholdings, terms/adds, and, run off cycle check runs as needed
- Coordinating with managers to make sure timecards for their direct reports are accurately coded and approved timely
- Facilitating the reporting for payroll-related audits as requested
- Perform year-end process to ensure timely issuance of accurate Form W-2s and to ensure setup of accurate payroll and benefit deductions the first pay period of the next year
- Assist employees with payroll related questions and discrepancies
- Processes and responds to all garnishment withholding orders ensuring compliance with withholding instructions
- Responsible for calculating and processing of retroactive payments related to salary changes
- Maintain the integrity of payroll data and payroll records
- Ensure accuracy of information in payroll system as it relates to state and local tax accounts
- Processes off cycle checks as needed to ensure timely payment of wages
- Improve policies and procedures to document and maintain payroll operations
- Balances and reconciles payroll adjustments, taxes and exceptions to employees pay data
- Protect confidential payroll operation information and maintain employee confidence
- Ensure tax accounts are kept up to date, setting up online access and closing out accounts as needed; Execute all necessary quarterly and annual payroll filings with all applicable reporting states
- Maintain personnel files and perform employee verifications of employment
- Process unemployment inquiries
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education
- Associate's Degree is required or adequate professional experience in lieu of a degree
- Experience

- 5+ years experience processing a multi-state payroll
- Previous experience with ADP Payroll is highly preferred
