About the Role

We are looking for an experienced payroll and accounting specialist who will be responsible for all payroll-related tasks and some general accounting. The payroll and accounting specialist will review employee information and working hours, prepare and process payroll, maintain accurate payroll records and additional accounting tasks.


Key Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the finance and HR departments to process biweekly payroll
  • Own biweekly payroll process for 2 separate companies (3 payroll runs in total)
  • Maintain payroll systems
  • Process all necessary payments pertaining to employee withholdings
  • Enter financial data and transactions into the general ledgers
  • Reconcile general ledger postings to quarterly and annual reports
  • Work with HR to maintain and fund insurance plans, 401K, HSA, and FSA employee accounts
  • Collaborate with other departments to complete accurate records and provide accounting support
  • Collaborate with other departments to complete adjustments for raises, bonuses, commission, retro pay, etc.
  • Review financial documents for accuracy and reconcile accounts
  • Check timesheets for accuracy
  • Enter data into databases and spreadsheets
  • Process paper checks for distribution as needed
  • Prepare reports weekly, quarterly, annually
  • Provide support for payroll tax filings
  • Ensure account balances are correct
  • Resolve payroll errors
  • Ensure that payroll goes out in timely manner
  • Ad hoc reporting as well as special projects as needed


Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of payroll and state unemployment taxes, including gaining nexus
  • Experience with UKG software (formerly Ultimate Payroll Co)
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel experience
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work with time constraints in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good understanding of accounting principles
  • Data and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
