Job description
Every Child Pediatrics is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist our Registered Nurses with patient care tasks in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary pediatric clinic in Thornton, Colorado.
Pay: $15.87-$16.54/hour
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm, with flexibility to meet business needs
Position Summary:
The Patient Care Technician is responsible for assisting our Registered Nurses (RNs) with patient care tasks, as requested. This includes clinical document management, patient care management, and taking an active role in care coordination between patients, nursing staff, providers and community health partners. Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking, reading and writing is required. Seeks out opportunities to assist the nursing team while working within the scope of practice.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma/GED required
· CPR certification required
· Experience working directly with patients and families in a medical setting
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) required – speaking, reading, and writing
· Solid knowledge of computer use and software
· Electronic Medical Records systems experience preferred
· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently
· Ability to work independently and as a team member
· Flexibility with adapting to the needs of the nursing team
· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
· Excellent customer service skills with clinic staff, children, parents and community health partner.
Duties and responsibilities
· Clinical document management: review incoming clinical documents and collaborate with the RN regarding follow up.
· Patient medication management: Initiate medication prior authorizations and review medication refill requests.
· Patient form completion per protocol.
· Letter completion per provider/RN request.
· Patient phone calls as delegated by RN/provider. Duties include scheduling, follow up calls and documentation within the electronic medical record.
· Healthcare professional phone line management: answer calls from healthcare professionals and provide assistance as able. Collaborate with provider/RN as needed.
· Care coordination with community health partners.
· Medical records requests: obtain medical records or lab results as requested by staff.
· Spanish interpretation: Assist RNs with Spanish interpretation during phone calls or office visits.
· Medication sample management: organize samples, discard expired medications, maintain adequate stock, interact with pharmaceutical reps.
· Supply management and ordering according to clinical need
