We are looking for an experienced Patient Account Rep / Admitting Clerk to join our dedicated team. Two shifts are available: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and 12:00 Noon - 8:30 pm Monday through Friday.

License or Certification: None required.

Education, Vocational Training, and Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • At least 2 years of prior medical office or hospital registration experience is required.
  • Excellent communication skills required (via telephone and face to face).
  • Must have accurate typing and PC skills.
  • Familiarity with Outlook, Word, Excel, and Cerner electronic medical record.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.

Interpersonal Relations:

  • A Patient Account Rep interacts with patients, patient families, visitors, physicians, and other hospital personnel.
  • All interactions must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and professional.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Consistently be aware of patient safety.
  • Comfortable using a multi-line telephone.
  • Comfortable using the overhead paging system.
  • Able to use a computerized electronic medical record to register patients.
  • Will be required to assemble patient charts.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and handle details with ease.
  • Will be required to interview patients.
  • Maintain logs.
  • Proofread documents.
  • Research information.
  • Must be able to work independently but also take direction.
  • Must be patient, courteous, and understanding towards patients, physicians, teammates and others.
  • Versatile and willing to help other members of the Reception Area.
  • Occasionally works under stressful conditions.
  • Participates in the Quality Improvement process.

Physical Tasks:

  • Position requires prolonged sitting and the ability to speak clearly and hear.
  • Light lifting / carrying of up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasional standing and walking.

Machines and Equipment Used: Personal computer, printer, fax machine, multi-line telephone, time clock, postage machine, business office equipment.
