The Company:
Sam Moore Furniture, a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation (NASDAQ: HOFT), is currently recruiting for a Part-Time Office Administrator to work in our plant in Bedford, VA. Hooker Furnishings Corporation, in its 98th year of business, is a designer, marketer, and importer of case goods (wooden and metal furniture), leather furniture, and fabric-upholstered furniture for the residential, hospitality, and contract markets. Sam Moore has been crafting high quality upholstered seating for over 80 years.
The Position:
We are looking for a dependable individual with a great attitude and dedication to teamwork to join our team as a Part-Time Office Administrator. The Office Administrator will work 20-29 hrs. per week and will provide operational and administrative support to our manufacturing plant as directed by the HR Manager.
Main Responsibilities include:
  • Daily scanning of pay tickets into AX, our timekeeping/payroll system
  • Running and Maintaining reports for HR team and supervisors to analyze time and attendance data.
  • Assist with HR & PR inquiries (phone calls and employees)
  • Set up new hires, process terminations and update employee records
  • Maintain bulletin boards, service anniversary and birthday listings on Hooker Resource Center
  • Maintain inventory of supplies
  • Assist HR Manager with employee events, projects and initiatives as needed
  • Assist with new hire benefit enrollments, pay and employee policies
  • Conduct new hire screenings (background checks and drug screens)
  • Making bank and post office runs as needed.
  • Opening mail and distributing invoices and mail/packages to the correct departments.
  • Act as welcoming and friendly first point of contact for plant visitors and candidates arriving to interview.
Candidates that will be a great fit will:
  • Have previous office administration experience (a plus, not required)
  • Be proficient in MS Office - Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Have the ability to learn quickly and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate a passion to serve others
  • Have a high school diploma

Schedule: 20-29 hrs. per week, we can be flexible with the specific days and times.
