The Associate will be part of BMO’s Asset Backed Securities group that manages of a $15B+ portfolio of securitization transactions in asset classes such as, auto, equipment, student loan, credit card, and consumer installment loans. ODM’s primary function is to lead strategic initiatives that enhance the ABS group’s business opportunities and income generation by creating a flexible and efficient operating platform to finance securitization clients, manage active ABCP funding vehicles, and extract business insights from various data sources. ODM also helps manage daily cash flow reconciliations, coordinates the collection, analysis, and distribution of loan performance data, onboards new clients, and supports CP funding activity. A successful candidate will develop diverse financial operations skills, including understanding money markets and securitization, database administration, analysis & reporting, and operational change management.
Business Operations & Data Management (55%)
- Critically asses operating procedures and systems to propose and implement efficiency improvements
- Use business intelligence applications, such as Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire, or similar, to perform portfolio analytics and generate value-added reporting for senior management
- Support administration of ABS operating database
- Support complex change management projects: establish new financing vehicles, develop procedures for new funding products, design new reporting protocols
- Manage effective relationships with business partners, such as Accounting, Legal & Compliance, and IT
Loan Servicing (30%)
- Supervise daily operations of a team that services securitization loan
- Onboard clients: review lending agreements for servicing protocols and input deal profiles to database
- Process loan draw and paydown requests
- Manage wires, reconcile daily cash flows, and resolve trade settlement issues
- Manage performance monitoring of securitization loans
- Review and ETL periodic client reporting
- Interact with clients to resolve servicing discrepancies
- Support loan life cycle events: amendments and terminations, performance breaches, special fundings, etc.
Legal Entity Administration (15%)
- Understand legal structure of various financing entities managed by ABS group
- Maintain awareness of structured finance regulatory landscape
Helpful attributes:
- Self-starter with keen attention to detail and ability to work under limited supervision.
- Ability to be creative, insightful, and resourceful in performance of duties.
- 2-5 years combined academic coursework or experience in operations management, MIS, business intelligence, or similar
- Basic knowledge of corporate or commercial lending and financial math
- Strong team collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in basic office products such MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or equivalent.
- Ability to multitask.
