The Operational Excellence Manager will be responsible for Quality, Safety, and Manufacturing Engineering teams. This position will focus on training and leading operations on how to use quality and Lean tools to improve all processes at Elkhart Brass.

The responsibilities for this position include:

· Drive change at Elkhart Brass

· Maintaining the Quality Management System

· Leading the shop floor Manufacturing Engineering team

· Implementing Continuous Improvement projects with Operations

· Diagnoses systematic root causes and recommends solutions using statistical techniques and or preventative actions

· Drive APQP processes throughout the organization

· Ability to train the team on the use of statistical techniques CpK, PpK, and statistical process control

· Participates in the definition and design of new systems and enhancements.

· Participate in customer and regulatory agency audits

· Interfaces with operations, design engineering, customer, or vendors to coordinate and resolve quality-related problems

· Train internal personnel in QMS requirements

· Teach and mentor the facility on the use of proper problem-solving techniques

· Work independently to organize and schedule work to meet commitments and shipment goals

· Provides status report on progress and concerns related to inspection activities, nonconforming items, and/or other items related to the quality of the process, material, or product

· Maintains a working knowledge of the latest codes and new developments in testing and examination methods of processes, materials, and products

· Be able to design and prepare process improvements to include existing product and or new product

· Create and present key metrics that monitor customer as well as internal processes

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· This position has Manufacturing Engineers and Quality Engineers as direct reports

COMPETENCIES:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

· Lean 6 Sigma training

· Working knowledge of ISO 9001-2015

· Strong attention to detail

· Ability to make independent decisions using good judgment, thorough knowledge and proven record of utilizing disciplined problem-solving methods and tools

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Formal education in relevant field.

· ASQ: CQT, CQA, or CQE

· Quality engineer, supplier quality engineer and/or quality technician experience.

· Overall metrology experience

· Process improvement experience

· Knowledge of practical application of AIAG tools: APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA …

· Foundry, machining, coating, welding, and/or assembly plant experience

· Experience in team-oriented problem solving, 8D, 5-Why, other

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

· Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English

· Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization in person, on the phone, and in writing

COMPUTER SKILLS:

· Internet based software

· Order processing software

· MS Office

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· The employee must have adequate hearing and visual acuity. The position requires being seated a good portion of the day. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

PPE REQUIREMENTS:

· In compliance with OSHA standards, it has been determined that Safety glasses and footwear are required on the plant floor

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

· Working environment is in an air-conditioned cubical with occasionally physically going into an unheated/air- conditioned manufacturing/warehouse setting where the employee may be exposed to dust, odors, oils, cleaning solvents, lubricants, or noise

WORK HOURS:

· Expected to work 40+ hours weekly

· Office Hours are generally 8am – 5pm but may vary due to business needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
