Occupational Health Assistant
0.2 FTE, 16 Hours Per Pay Period
Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 7:30AM and 5:00PM Monday through Friday
The OH Assistant role is a dynamic individual able to multitask and perform services in
multiple areas. This individual works closely with the Occupational Health team and others at
Winona Health in the provision of care for clients of community businesses and organizations
related to employment safety, health, injury, and well-being under the direction of an RN or
provider(s). The OH Assistant provides direct patient care in an office setting, laboratory
services, and services on-site at companies and health fairs.
The OH Assistant provides/supports patient care by performing tasks and duties consistent with
professional standards and Winona Health policies and procedures. The OH Assistant is
responsible to deliver prompt, efficient, high quality customer service to Occupational Health
external/internal customers.
Essential Role and Responsibilities:
The OH Assistant scope of responsibilities includes:
- Direct patient care that will include, but is not limited to, rooming of patients, taking
vital signs, and scheduling and coordination of care for patients referred for care.
- Conducts drug and alcohol screens; communicates results with companies and medical
review officers.
- Pre-employment and DOT physical support which may include, but is not limited to
vision, hearing screenings, and urine collection.
- Gathering data and general assistance to the provider as needed.
- Communicate with employers and workers compensation carriers regarding
coordination of care for the employee client.
- Ensures nursing supplies and medications are properly ordered and available.
- Coordination, scheduling, and participation related to business-related health fairs and
activities.
- Supports infection prevention and OSHA standards.
- Provides clerical support
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Basic computer skills - Word, Excel, Outlook
- Great customer service skills
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Non-Essential Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of one-year clinical experience desired. Certifications needed for role can be obtained
upon hire.
- Current MN CMA license preferred.

The employee’s past performance, experience, training and qualifications will be considered in transfer/hiring decisions. Consideration for transfer or promotion is not a guarantee of transfer or promotion. Employees may be given a chance to interview for a position when they meet the minimum position qualifications.
