SUMMARY:

The Mgr, Vendor Management position supports the management of specific strategic vendor relationships within Jewelers Mutual. This position is responsible for managing relationships with third-party vendors and serves as a point of contact within the organization for associated processes, direction, guidance, and support. This role will support all departments within the organization. This person will encompass all aspects of Vendor Management including implementing and managing formalized processes for evaluating, selecting, monitoring and auditing our third-party vendors, while also working with business partners to support their specific needs and timelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Lead the management of vendor relationships of high scope and complexity. Maintain active positive relationships with designated points of contact with key vendors at all levels to escalate, discuss and resolve issues relative to the supply of goods and services.
  • Oversee the comparative evaluations of vendors, both before and after contract negotiations, to ensure that Jewelers Mutual obtains the highest value and expected return for its investment in vendor contracts.
  • Consult with internal/external experts to evaluate the financial, operational, and performance reputation of the vendor to ensure a fit with our organization. Oversee the monitoring of post contract performance of the vendor relative to product or service delivery and performance and may make change recommendations to management.
  • Compile data and reports for managerial or executive review on aggregate vendor performance.
  • Partner and collaborate with Jewelers Mutual’s teams and Legal department to review compliance, assess risk, negotiate business terms with vendors, and maximize price efficiencies.
  • Conduct Vendor Business/Risk Reviews, providing support to compliance personnel as it relates to the evaluation and management of risk related to third party entities, and their continued compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Contribute to the creation and management of preferred vendor environments, enabling streamlined selection and strategic pricing negotiations with vendors.
  • Assist in defining and developing vendor management methods, governance standards, processes, and metrics for monitoring vendor performance against defined contract terms and overall vendor risk management.
  • Provide strategic oversight and escalation in managing vendor performance to ensure financial and operational objectives are met.
  • Proactively identify issues and emerging risks and take action to resolve or escalate as appropriate.
  • Lead design, development, and maintenance of training for internal employees on vendor management best practices, processes and other programs as assigned.
  • Mentor and, as appropriate, provide work direction and guidance to less seasoned team members to ensure an effective implementation of Jewelers Mutual’s short- and long-term vendor management strategies.
  • Actively consult and advise Jewelers Mutual teams working with non-vendors to apply Third Party risk management methodologies and principles.
  • Develop ongoing status reports regarding the actions, outcomes, and closure of any corrective action plans imposed upon poorly performing vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 7+ years of related experience required.
  • Must possess a strong working knowledge of legal, compliance, and privacy/security, with the ability to redline and negotiate large, complex contracts and provide recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong skills in project management and time management, with the ability to perform with little to no direction.
  • Ownership mentality with a deep sense of accountability over results.
  • Self-starter with high sense of urgency and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with excellent follow-through.
  • Strong decision making and conflict resolution skills.
  • Self-motivated/directed person who has the ability to embrace role and drive change.
  • Comfortable interacting with multiple teams and leaders on a regular basis.
  • Proven analytical skills and strategic thinking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels of an organization (verbal and written).
  • High degree of comfort with business and technology language.
  • Must approach vendor management objectively, creatively, and diplomatically.
  • As an innovative and heavily technology-driven company, experience interacting with Information Technology organizations is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of and experience with an industry contract management and/or Third Party Risk Management platform.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat and document control and electronic signature technologies.
