DAY-TO-DAY AS A MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT WORKER - STR SPECIALIST

This part-time recovery worker with our human services nonprofit works Monday and Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM, while also having a shift on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

As a Mental Health Support Worker - STR Specialist with our human services nonprofit, you are an essential part of our team of care coordinators and your enthusiasm is infectious. Every day you arrive at the Clubhouse ready to welcome members as they arrive. Working in this recovery worker role, you are eager to lead and facilitate groups in Membership, Business, Kitchen, and Employment/Education work units. You enjoy working side-by-side with members by assisting with internal and external employment and educational programs, all while using a strength-based approach to help them achieve their personal, career, and wellness goals. Your great interpersonal skills as a care coordinator encourage peer-to-peer relationships, promote pro-social interaction, and foster a supportive and inclusive community.

As a care coordinator, you are always looking for ways to identify and use community, healthcare, and social service resources that promote member well-being, independence, and personal satisfaction. You conduct outreach activities at community organizations to increase membership and community visibility, and you exert leadership with members in relation to our Clubhouse's mission and goals. You apply your strong organizational skills to staff and manage the Clubhouse's social and recreational programs. When working as a recovery worker, you're always willing to maintain the flexibility to work occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays to best support our members' needs.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT WORKER - STR SPECIALIST

  • 1+ years of working with adults who have a mental illness or other relevant experience
  • A true understanding of mental illness and the principles of human development
  • Trained as a Certified Employment Specialist (with Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) training
  • Serve-Safe certified
  • Proficiency in MS Office software applications, Google Drive, social media platforms, and electronic medical records
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

An associate's or bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, education, occupational therapy, human services, behavioral health, or a related field is preferred. Previous clubhouse experience is beneficial with Clubhouse International training (2-week colleague training) to be provided within one year of hire. Knowledge of or experience with co-occurring substance use disorders is also beneficial. If you meet the above requirements, we need you as a care coordinator.
