Location : Belle Mead,NJ
This position functions under the supervision of the Unit Directors or Nursing Supervisors. Provides support services for the professional nursing staff and is responsible for the routine functions of patient care under the direction of the professional nurse. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. May be assigned to any inpatient unit, Blake or Access to meet patient care needs
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Complies with patient care decisions made by the professional staff and accepts responsibility for following instructions, fulfilling assignments and learning from feedback. Observes and reports patient’s conditions, behavior, reaction to treatment and complaints to the nurse.
- Assists patients with daily living activities (i.e.; feeding and dressing patients).
- Transfers, escorts, transports, and ambulates patients.
- Conducts patient search at admission, upon return from pass, or as clinically indicated, under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Inspects and handles belongings and valuables of patients to ensure that prohibited material is not brought into the hospital.
Skills:
Must have a minimum of 1-year prior experience working as a Mental Health Tech in a behavioral health care facility.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules and manuals. Ability to write routine and daily reports. Effectively present larger amounts of information to patients, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and divide and multiply by 10’s and 100’s.
Education:
HS diploma or equivalent required.
BLS (AHA) required.
