LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY
: Medical Assistant, Level I, stationed at WHC and JPMHC reports to Nursing Supervisor on site.

Medical Assistant, Level I, stationed at HHC reports to the Clinical Operations Manager (COM).

ALL Medical Assistants report to the COM for special projects, when assigned.


PURPOSE: To assist health care providers in the provision of quality care at every patient visit and telephone interaction.


RESPONSIBILITIES
:

  • Perform pre-visit planning in preparation of patient appointment
  • Prepare patient for appointment using rooming criteria
  • Make patient call backs per provider request and standing protocols
  • Maintain medical supplies -and prepare restocking list as needed.
  • Clean and restock exam rooms
  • Sterilize and clean equipment as needed, clean sterilizer, and maintain usage log and test strip
  • Set up surgical trays and GYN trays
  • Assist providers with IUD placement and removal and other minor procedures if needed
  • Monitor E prescribing jellybean of provider
  • Prepare prescriptions for provider using company protocols
  • Assist in obtaining and preparation of prior authorization for medications and durable medical equipment
  • General knowledge and performance of in-house procedures; including but not limited to pregnancy tests, hemoglobin, rapid strep, rapid flu, glucose, rapid covid tests, HgA1c
  • Processing of outgoing specimens
  • Share in vacation and sick leave for Medical Assistant coverage (may include covering at other HCHC sites)
  • Participation in Community Service (for example: flu clinics,)
  • Assist in orienting new medical assistants as needed
  • Meet annual competencies for MA level I
  • Other duties as assigned by Nursing Supervisor and/or Clinical Operations Manager
  • Provide patient care using team-based approach


QUALIFICATIONS
:

Required: Ability to work on and with a team. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program

Preferred: Knowledge and use of electronic medical records. Minimum of 0-1 year of experience medical assisting in a doctor's office setting. CMA/RMA/CCMA accreditation.
