This position was created to support continued participation of patients in the Medicaid program given policy changes arising from the end of the Public Health Emergency and the new availability of Medicaid benefits for some undocumented populations.


The Medicaid Enrollment Specialist is responsible for supporting Medicaid enrollment and re-enrollment for current and potential Care Clinic patients and for conducting outreach related to Medicaid eligibility and services. Applicant must be able to speak Spanish fluently.


Essential Functions:

  • Gain and maintain a working knowledge of Medicaid eligibility and enrollment guidelines.
  • In collaboration with the Outreach and Communications Specialist, design patient education materials to support Medicaid enrollment and re-enrollment.
  • Using tools provided (e.g., Eligible but Not Enrolled data, current list of Medicaid patients), outreach to identified individuals to support Medicaid enrollment, address verification, and/or re-enrollment.
  • Assist patients in verifying Medicaid eligibility and address information.
  • Assist patients and potential patients in enrolling for Medicaid benefits.
  • Conduct outreach events in the community to provide education on Medicaid benefits and enrollment and Care Clinic services.
  • Collaborate with FIRC as well as the Human Services Departments in Summit, Lake, and Park Counties for continued growth of Medicaid application assistance.
  • Support eligibility functions including determining and managing SFS applications and Building Hope voucher applications received from all sites, meeting with patient when appropriate either in person or virtually to support their applications.
    • Maintain accurate records of applications in the Electronic Health Record system and Electronic Dental Record system.
    • Potential coverage for Patient Services Representatives as need arises.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

  • Grants are a vital part of Care Clinic revenues and directly or indirectly support all positions. This role may have responsibilities that are closely associated with grant deliverables. Grants and grant responsibilities may change over time.
  • Complete all required trainings as designated by HR and the position supervisor
  • Adhere to all policies within organization and those outlined withing the SCCC Employee Handbook
  • Comply with all SCCC Vaccine Mandates
  • Willingness to travel and work at other SCCC locations as determined by the supervisor
  • Comply with all applicable Credentialing and Privileging requirements timely
  • Embrace the SCCC Mission and Vision and agree to work within the SCCC Guiding Principles and the principles set by the position supervisor
  • Must participate in quality assurance/ improvement activities when applicable.

Education/Experience:


Must Haves to be Successful:

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Proficient customer service skills preferably healthcare but not required
  • Basic knowledge of digital system (including Microsoft Office Suite) required
  • Critical level of attention to detail
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required

Nice to Haves:

  • Customer Service Experience preferred
  • Previous non-profit experience preferred
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Self-motivated professional who is resourceful and well organized

Work Environment: The work environment is in a healthcare setting and can be fast paced and involve working directly with healthcare professionals. The environment is primarily an office setting working with teams and serving the needs of SCCC team members. The role will spend moderate time presenting to and speaking with new and prospective team members and visiting clinical settings to build credibility and relationships with all team members.
