Media Clerk (7.75 hours/day) Job at Muscatine Community School District
Muscatine Schools is hiring a Media Clerk for MHS. Media Clerks are assigned to work 9-months/year while school is in session. This position is scheduled for 7.75 hrs/day, Monday through Friday, with an approximate schedule of 7:45am - 4:00pm. Starting pay for this position is $16.59/hour. Bilingual preferred or highly desirable.

Normal Work Day: Hours will be assigned and Principal will schedule based upon student needs; non-paid meal breaks and other breaks will be based upon clerical contract.
OBJECTIVE: Coordinate with teachers and Teacher Librarian to incorporate classroom material and instructional objectives into the library.
MAJOR DUTIES:
These duties are not present in every job but are illustrative of the variety and types of duties that a person holding this job title may perform.
- Day to day library supervision of students.
- Maintain books and materials in the library: check in/out, processing of new materials, repair as needed and shelving on a daily basis.
- Maintain computerized card catalog, inventory of books, periodicals, materials, equipment and software, as well as annual inventory of fixed assets and supplies.
- Use the automated circulation system to check in/out curriculum materials and resources which move throughout the district.
- Keep room presentable at all times, improve and maintain bulletin boards.
- Assist with the fines and dues for media center.
- Perform filing, laminating, and copying materials for use in center and answering phone, as directed at individual buildings.
- Search and pull library books for teacher's lesson plans.
- Search for and pull library books for book displays.
- Keep an inventory of supplies and assist in requests for supplies purchased for the running of the library.
- Assist in the operation of such site-based programs as, Battle of the Books and book fairs.
- Be familiar with the library collection in order to recommend appropriate books to students.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must demonstrate computer proficiency and office skills. Must attend training on and demonstrate proficiency in software used at building. Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma or GED.

The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising indoor and outdoor activities, etc. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors when supervising students outside of the classroom.
