Material Handler Job at Wabash
POSITION SUMMARY
The operator is responsible for operating various types of forklifts to move and mount large truck bodies in a safe manner and free of damage. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle. Identifies and locates various production materials and supplies. Using a variety of methods (including forklift, carts and manually) moves and supplies materials to the production lines.
EXPERIENCE
- Reading and comprehending work orders, instructions and labeling
- Moving and manipulation of various materials and supplies
- Tape measure accuracy
- Communication skills – two-way radio
- Read and sign for materials
- Will require travel on public roads requiring employee to meet state licensing requirements
- Material Handling equipment
- Inventory reporting
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Experience operating a forklift required
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent communication & listening skills
- Product knowledge required
- Ability to learn and operate a basic handheld scanner
- Motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible hours—will require overtime, weekend work
- Must have valid driver's license
- Lift, push, pull and manipulate various sizes and shapes up to 50 lbs.
- Sitting, standing, squatting, walking
Safety Requirements
- Safety glasses with side shields
- Steel toe or approved safety toe shoes
- Ability to safely operate overhead lifting equipment
- Forklift certification
- Housekeeping
- Other department/job specific personal protective equipment as required
EDUCATION
High school diploma/GED or equivalent relevant experience
